Training Needs Analysis

A training needs analysis helps you to identify the skills and knowledge your company needs to succeed. West Lothian's Business Gateway Growth Advisors can help you accurately map your organisation's skills to identify gaps and training needs. We will help you focus your training budget on the right areas, training people to meet both their needs and the needs of the organisation.

Flexible Workforce Development Fund

West Lothian College can support your organisation to access up to £5,000 to reskill and upskill your existing staff. Our very exciting programmes offer a wide variety of accredited and non-accredited courses to support the development of your workforce. This year we are delighted to support small to medium enterprises to access this fund. We look forward to working with you to identify the training needs of your team and to create relevant training programmes.

SVQ Programmes

West Lothian College has a wide range of SVQ's on offer which are designed to develop the skills and competence of your existing workforce. ITA and SAAS funding can be used towards the cost of these courses and if you have a young person under the age of 25 then SDS funding may be available. Part-Time Courses

Not everyone can commit to full-time study and part-time courses can provide a more viable or preferable method of study for many prospective students. West Lothian College offers over 50 part-time courses, choosing one of these can help you:

Further your career – many of their courses are designed to provide you with the knowledge and qualifications to help accelerate your career

Graduate Apprenticeships

Graduate Apprenticeships are fully-funded! Ideal for upskilling and reskilling existing staff, the programmes enable employees to gain an Honours degree whilst working – as well as transferring the latest knowledge and skills to their workplace. Heriot-Watt offers nine Graduate Apprenticeship programmes designed to develop skills in a range of growth sectors in the Scottish economy. They range from traditional sectors such as construction and engineering through to programmes focused on modern business and digital skills.

Upskilling Scotland Scholarship

Heriot-Watt’s Upskilling Scotland Scholarship provides access to a broad range of fully-funded courses (worth up to £1,340) covering key business disciplines such as Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Business Analytics, Digital Leadership and Renewable Energy Development. The courses are delivered online and have been specifically selected to help businesses improve their productivity and are eligible to anyone living or working in Scotland.
