LOGISTICS AND DISTRIBUTION

Some 385 distribution companies have recognised the benefits of West Lothian's strategic location in Scotland that makes it ideal for logistics operations.
At present, approximately 7,000 people are employed in the sector, accounting for around 5% of total employment in the local economy. The GVA is £243 million.
Specialist warehouse and freight operations are linked to food, drink, electronics and other manufacturing operations. Key distribution hubs for major retail chains include Amazon, Schuh & ALDI near Bathgate, Morrisons at Pyramids Business Park, and Tesco's Scottish distribution centres is also located in Livingston.
The M8 and M9 motorways both bisect West Lothian providing easy access across Central Scotland while the M74 motorway that gives access to the South is within a ten-minute drive along the M8. Eurocentral rail freight hub is just 21 miles from Livingston, providing direct linkage from Scotland via the Channel Tunnel to mainland Europe. West Lothian is also within easy reach of freight services from the following ports: Grangemouth, Leith, Fife and Rosyth.

Drummond Distribution
Drummond Distribution is an independent, family ran business established in 1927.
Based in Armadale, they operate from a 40,000 sq. ft cross-dock Distribution Depot and a160k square feet warehouse. They have more than 95 delivery vehicles on the road and employ 175 people.

Stoddart's
Founded in 1959 as a butchery supplier, Stoddart's is now a fully integrated beef supplier working with some of the biggest farms in Scotland.
The company located to a purpose-built facility in Broxburn in 1993 and now employs over 240 staff.
