Going Green with The Verdancy Group

The importance of sustainability and the circular economy is more urgent than ever. There is a need to lower our carbon footprint to halt climate change and be aware of all the choices and changes we need to make.

Adopting a green economy offers not only challenges but opportunities as well, as our lifestyles will become different. There will be new jobs created with individuals embracing new mindsets.

Learning will be at the focus of all this as The Verdancy Group, based in Livingston, works with education, businesses and communities to offer a range of materials and courses to build valuable skills needed for the future.

The origin of the company is in the waste management sector, an industry that is having to adapt massively to climate change. “My passion is very much around education, both within the private sector and in mainstream education from nurseries through schools to colleges and universities”, says Verdancy Director Steven Kiakowski.

He highlights the company is about explaining the opportunities in the green recovery, climate reality, circular economy and net-zero transitions can offer to people. “Whether that’s a young person who doesn’t know what they want to do when they leave school, or someone who is employed and wants to retrain and pick up a different skill set, we have created lots of really strong and positive programmes to help.” He points out their learning resources will enhance the skills of having a sustainable mindset for future careers.
