Celebrating Good News Stories in West Lothian
Mitsubishi's New West Lothian Centre will Train 1,000 People a Year to Install Heat Pumps
We were delighted by the news that Mitsubishi Electric have recently opened a new heat pump training centre within its Livingston plant! This comes amid the drive to replace fossil fuel boilers with more sustainable forms of heating, and will allow over 1000 people to train as accredited heat pump installers per year.
At the training centre, students will not only receive hands on training, but Mitsubishi have also developed innovative virtual training opportunities to further help students learn and understand the workings of heat pumps.

Funding for Businesses in West Lothian
The Invest in West Lothian team have extensive experience of preparing funding packages for local businesses of all sizes. Each month, we will highlight a new funding opportunity that is currently available to eligible businesses in the area.
Innovation Grant
Here at Invest in West Lothian, we are passionate about supporting innovation within local businesses. With our exciting Innovation Grant, eligible businesses can receive a contribution of between £2000 - £5000 to assist with:
- Costs of a new project or idea
- Workplace, product and process innovation
- A feasibility study
This is part funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

We are delighted to be hosting the following free event in June:
Finance for the Non-Financial Workshop
This workshop is perfect for non-financial business owners and managers that want to increase their understanding of the use of accounting and finance in the business context. By the end of the programme, you will be able to communicate effectively and confidently on financial matters within your organisation. This is taking place on Wednesday, the 12th of June, from 9:30am – 3:30pm, at the Scottish Procurement Alliance Partnership Hub in Livingston.
1:1 Procurement Surgery Sessions
There is limited availability on Tuesday, the 18th of June, for a free, 1:1 virtual surgery session with procurement expert Mandy Millar from Intend Business Development Ltd. These sessions have been created to help West Lothian business owners improve their understanding of the procurement process and improve their success rate with tender bids. Sessions last 1-hour and take place virtually.
